Victor J. Bretthauer Jim Laughter
Victor and Jim had book signings on September 16th and 19th respectfully, and apparently neither of us know where our digital cameras are. Victor was at Page Turner's in Port Angeles, WA, and Jim was at Mardel's in Tulsa, OK.

Queen Bee Book Festival
Comanche, Ok
March 7, 2009
Thank you events coordinator Tonya Shook and the citizens and mayor of Comanche, Oklahoma for hosting this excellent event. Not only did we sell some books, which is always a good thing, but we were able to network with other writers, exchange ideas (steal a few too) and marketing tips, and make some new friends. I think I speak for the rest of the authors present, we are looking forward to next year. I don't see how you'll top it, but you'll try.
Jim with publisher Dan Case of AWOC publishing, along with Periwinkle, the Queen Bee fairy. Periwinkle buzzed around the book fair making everyone feel welcome. I don't think she sprinkled any magic dust on me.
Author Jackie King and Miss Commanche Courtney Branch with copies of Escape to Destiny. Jackie picked up the books for her grandchildren, twin Morgan and Justin. Jackie is also a member of Tulsa NightWriters and is author and co-author of several books. Visit her site at TulsaNightwriters to view her books and to see when and where you can meet Jackie and pickup one of her books.
Dad was out looking for some good fiction for son Cody Bridgeman. Also, mom Sharla and daughter (uh-o, missed that name) on a girl's day out. What better way than to spend it shopping for books. Sure beats video games.
The Commanche Community Center where the Queen Bee Book Festival was held. Event Coordinator Tonya Shook and her staff did an excellent job of arranging the event. It could not have been better.

Sapulpa Public Library
Sapulpa, Oklahoma
Saturday, February 21, 2009
This old building was a landmark for me when I was growing up. It was always a place of mystery, and being a country boy, I knew that only the elite of high society could enter there. But the people we found there on February 21, 2009 was anything but the high falutin' people I remember from my childhood. Instead we found a friendly and efficient staff, and patrons that were well-read and loved good books. And the facility is top-notch. This library is truly a Sapulpa treasure.
Although we didn't have as large a turnout as we'd hoped, we managed to sell a number of books, and I am proud to say that Escape to Destiny, in both paperback and 6-disc CD, is now a part of the library inventory.
I also has the opportunity to speak about a new individual book project that I am working on, which will be titled From Victim to Hero. It is the true story of the kidnapping of 7-year-old Steven Stayner in 1972, and his eventual escape and rescue of kidnap victim 5-year-old Timmy White. It will be a good one, so watch for it in your bookstores around the end of the year.
